Originally released in October 2000, ’Saints & Sinners’ was the second album from All Saints and their first number one. One of the most hotly anticipated albums of the year, it was released three years after their self-titled debut in 1997 which had catapulted the band to chart topping success with three number one singles and a host of awards including Best Single at the Brits.
‘Saints & Sinners’ was preceded by the release of ‘Pure Shores’ by six months, written by Shaznay Lewis and William Orbit for a scene in Danny Boyle’s ‘The Beach’, it was released at the same time as the movie in February 2000 and became an instant global commercial and critical success, reaching number one in the UK in its first week of release outselling its closest competitor by three to one and increasing anticipation of the album.
‘Black Coffee’, the album's second single was released two weeks before the album, again being met with huge acclaim and becoming the bands fifth number one single. Both singles, produced by Orbit, have since been cited as influential upon the sound of later girl groups such as Sugababes and Girls Aloud.
Multi-platinum selling through the UK and Europe, the album spawned era defining tracks that have become synonymous with the early 2000s and having revisited the album for this special edition release, the band reflect…
Shaznay Lewis says - “I enjoyed working with William Orbit on this album. Pure Shores was our first collaboration. Another song we wrote, Surrender, was also a personal favourite. It’s great that the re-issue of Saints And Sinners allows people to enjoy this album again.”
Melanie Blatt says - “I hope our fans old and new enjoy this album. It’s been very humbling that people still enjoy our music and for that I am forever grateful and thankful”
Natalie Appleton says "Revisiting ‘Saints & Sinners’ has been emotional and electric — it still sounds so fresh. Revisiting 'Dreams' especially reminds me of the creative freedom we embraced during that era. We’re so proud to share this with a new generation of fans."
Nicole Appleton says “The ‘Saints & Sinners’ album means the world to us — it captured a moment when we were fearless and really finding our voice as a band. Hearing it again brings all that energy right back."
